E-Scooter seized in Norman ward |
||
|
Hello Resident,
In our recent survey, e‑scooters were identified as one of the top three concerns in your area.
While on patrol today in the Norman Road area of Ashford, I stopped an individual riding an e‑scooter on the road. The scooter was seized under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act 1988 for being used without insurance. As privately owned e‑scooters cannot be insured, the rider will not be able to reclaim the scooter and it will be destroyed.
Privately owned e‑scooters cannot legally be used on public roads or in public spaces such as parks, pavements, or shopping centres. They may only be used on private land with the landowner’s permission.

Many thanks
